Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. ~Arnold H. Glasow. I cannot just say I want something and get it. I must work for it.

I am Ethan J and I have many goals that I have set before me in my four years of high school and beyond. These pertain to my academics, sports, social life, and my future life. And I will find one way or another to complete these various goals.

Some of my academic goals are becoming a better speech writer, earning better grades, getting out of fire, and taking Calculus or Physics for my future job which I will tell you about later. Many people have told me that I have the talent for public speaking and writing, but I want to improve and make it better. I also want to earn good grades and become a Renaissance student. I also want to earn my way out of FIRE. I’m not saying FIRE isn’t fun, but I would also enjoy an hour long lunch break. I also want to study Physics or Calculus whichever one would help me most to become an air force pilot. Most of all I want to graduate from high school and go to Brigham Young University or Air Force Academy.

I am an active teenager doing many sports. I participate in football, wrestling, and track and field for BHS. In football I want to become a better punter and learn how to kick kick off’s and field goals. I also want to become a better line backer and learn how to hit harder and deflect hits myself. In wrestling I want to go to state championships and get a high record. In track and field I would like to learn to sprint faster and throw farther. I would like to letter in all these sports.

I have many friends and acquaintances, but I would like to become a more outgoing friendly person and not get shy around girls and to get involved with community activities. When I was young I used to be the loudest, craziest kid at school always making friends. Then my sister would tease and joke about me so I then became shy and introverted towards people I didn’t know. I would like to grow out of this and become more outgoing. I would also like to become more involved with community clean ups and service projects. In all I want to become better and help others become better people.

My final sets of goals are my biggest goals in life. First, I want to earn my Eagle Scout award, learn to play many new instruments, become an Air Force pilot and have a family. I am very close to earning my Eagle and may even be able to do it within the year. I also want to learn to play the alto saxophone, the guitar, and the bagpipes. How many people do you know play the bagpipes? I want a high education so that I may become an aviator and fly for the U.S. My family and I get along well and I want a family the same way. We will get along but have struggles at times.

These are my goals for my four years of high school and beyond. At times I feel that I am not capable of completing my goals but my dad always lights my fire again by encouraging me to keep going and I get burning.
